Would you like to meet and play with harpists from all over Norway? Would also like the chance to play in an orchestra?

The Norwegian Harp Society is arranging a harp weekend in Stavanger. The event will take place from the 15th through the 17th of October of 2021 in collaboration with the Norwegian Youth Symphony Orchestra (NUSO) and Instruments in focus. The event was supposed to take place last October, but it has been postponed to this coming October due to the pandemic.

The Stavanger Harp Weekend will offer two main events; The harp ensemble and the NUSO youth orchestra. Barbora Placha, a versatile and multi-awarded harpist, will give a masterclass and a workshop for harp teachers. International renowned harp technician Enric de Anciola will give a harp maintenance workshop.

HARP ENSEMBLE

Giselle Boeters, solo harpist from the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, will instruct and lead this weekend's main event, the harp ensemble. Harpists of all ages and levels are welcome to join us. The ensemble will perform on Saturday October 16th in the evening at the Stavanger Konserthus.

The parts are in various degrees of difficulty; A1, A2, B and C. A1 is for those who have just started, and C is the most advanced.

We have currently 17 pre-registered harpists between 10 and 60 years old, complete beginners, intermediate and advanced players and even some professional harpists.

Thus, please do not hesitate and reserve your spot in the harp ensemble!

We will have a lot of fun!

Please contact us in order to check which level would be the most appropriate for you or your students!

PLAY IN NUSO

Throughout the weekend, The Norwegian Youth Symphony Orchestra (NUSO) will focus on the least played instruments in Norway; harp, bassoon, oboe, double bass and church organ. Composer Nils Henrik Asheim has written a piece especially for this occasion. Therefore, we would like to have a record-breaking harp group with as many harpists as we can fit on stage! The harp voice will be adapted to all levels, and you can participate with both lever and pedal harps.

There are still a few spots available for the NUSO project!

We will try to accommodate most participants who would like to be on stage!

However, if we are unable to do so, due to space limitations, those who have signed up first will be given priority.

MASTERCLASS & TEACHER WORKSHOP BY VERSATILE CZECH HARPIST BARBORA PLACHÁ

Multi-awarded and versatile harpist Barbora Plachá will give a masterclass for harpists and a workshop for harp teachers. The workshop will focus on how to teach children to play the harp and how to extend harp playing to a wider audience in Norway.

HARP MAINTENANCE WORKSHOP & HARP REGULATIONS BY ENRIC DE ANCIOLA

We have invited Harp technician Enric de Anciola to come to Stavanger in order to give a workshop on how to maintain your harp. At the end of the workshop there will be a Q&A session.

Enric will also be available for harp regulations. Please contact us for related cost details. We have approximately 14 spots available. First comes first served. When all the spots are taken the remaining interested participants will be placed on a reserve list in case of cancelations.
